That's What Friends Are For

One of the things that I most love about Justin is his loyalty to his friends and family. His best friend has been his friend since little league and is now his business partner. His other close friend he has known since elementary school and was his roommate for a while in college. He would do anything he could for them, and they would do the same for him.

Due to his insanely busy work schedule, family, and life, he hasn't had much of an opportunity to develop more close friendships. He has another friend- my friend's husband. They get along fine, and have a good time when we get together and hang out. He definitely has more aquaintances than friends, though.

We joined a couple's small group through our church. There are a few other men his age in the group and they seem to be interested in the same stuff- i.e. sports. After meeting everyone, I started thinking about how cool it would be, if he made a few more friends. Apparently, he was thinking along the same lines. I guess.

"So. . .I had a random thought today."

"Really, what's that?" Do I really want to know?

"I might be up to 4 pall bearers, soon." Um, okay- what am I supposed to say?

"That's right. You just need 2 more friends and you're all set. I guess we could ask 2 of my brother in laws, your choice. Or your brother. It's good to have some back-ups, you know."

"Can you ask family?" Well, big shot- you're running low on friends, who else are we gonna ask?

"How should I know? We could ask your niece's boyfriend. Even though we've never met him and we don't really like her. If I had to be in her wedding, he can be in your funeral."

Yep, he needs more friends.

Is there something he is not telling you? Planning his funeral already! Yikes! LOL!

Funny, yet sort of unsettling too...

You crack me up - this was so funny - sad - but, funny!!

My husband doesn't have many friends either - I guess he would have the same problem.

Have a good Tuesday - I'll see you later. Kellan

That is a random thought. I will be cremated, so I don't have to worry about pall bearers. Although I am worried that my husband will leave my ashes in a box and keep me in the garage...
maybe I should set aside some money for a cruise so he is sure to scatter my ashes.

On a lighter note, I tagged you for a meme.

Awww... that's so sweetly sad! Too bad Justin & caleb don't live closer. Something tells me they would have lots in common. Especially if he is a zombie movie geek.

That is an interesting conversation. My hubby needs some more friends too. I actually scout out guys for him and try to force him out the door to go have a good time. But he always tells me I'm his best friend and he would rather spend time with me! Isn't that sweet? Yeah, I'm out the door with my girlfriends and I don't look back!

Funny scary!
I think it is much harder for men to make friends once they have families. So much on their plate and at the end of the day they just want to be with you and the kids.
My dh has been talking about this a bit lately (I have been telling him to get a friend for years;P)

Yipe! One more reason I'll go with cremation. Then again, having your kids deal with the ashes is BEYOND creepy!

I know the solution - Sarah's Rent a Pallbearer, Rent an Ashes Disperser. I always was the practical type.
