We meet weekly with a group of people from our church, for dinner and we sometimes get around to discussing the book we are supposed to read. Any given Sunday night, there are 4 or 5 couples, with up to 6 kids running around.
We just started this a few months ago, and everyone is still trying to get to know one another. It's fun, but there are times that you can tell everyone is holding back from being who they really are.
This last Sunday night, we were sitting around the dinner table. The conversation turned to television and how trashy it is. Then, someone mentioned how bad reality tv is.
I took a deep breath. These people need to know the real me. I can do this.
"I live vicariously through reality tv."
There. I said it.
They laughed. Then, they started talking about they like Survivor and the Amazing Race- I'm assuming to make me feel better. But, my addiction to reality shows goes much deeper.
I want to say that I'm adept in the kitchen, so I watch Top Chef.
I want to say that I keep up with fashions and the top designers, so I watch Project Runway.
I watch Real Housewives of New York- just in case we ever win the lottery and we need to vacation in the Hamptons.
I'm hooked on America's Next Top Model, because the modeling world fascinates me.
I watch Work Out, hoping to get some new workout tips. Which I might, if the trainers would stop making out with each other.
So You Think You Can Dance, Flip This House, Survivor, Shear Genius- I watch them all.
My name is Chelsea, and I'm hopelessly addicted to reality television.
I need a life. Badly.

Don't feel bad - you're not alone. My daughter & I are what I fondly refer to as "reality TV sluts". Survivor, The Bachelor, American Idol, America's Next Top Model, Wife Swap, you get the point.... We're officially addicted.
Oh I so know what you mean!
We only have basic cable now, so I can't watch all the reality shows that I used to, but I get enough on regular tv.
I LOVE ANTM! And sadly, I also love the Bachelor even though this is definitely one of the lamest seasons yet. And Amazing Race? Definitely my fav. And I heard the Mole is coming back in the next month of so. I also like the Apprentice (although Donald is so annoying).
I used to really love the original of all reality shows - The Real World.
Um.. how bad is it that I watch the Hills. Making the Band. Hells Kitchen.
Bad. Bad tv. Seriously I am even ashamed to admit to another reality junkie because the shows I watch are terrible.
Of course I watch ANTM.. and I am dying to finally see workout.. oh I forgot I like Keeping up with Kardashins too..
I am a sad sad girl.
Watch them all, it's pretty sad. Between reality TV and blogging it's a wonder I ever get any sleep!
hmm.. Work Out? What channel's that one on. It's new to me. Now that Big Brother's over, I'm running rather low on reality shows! :)
OMG - how excited are you that SYTYCD is about to start up again?? I heart that show so much!!
And Project Runway.
And Top Chef.
And Biggest Loser. (yay Alli!)
And especially What Not To Wear.
Oh yeah.. and Amazing Race.
You are not alone!!
My opinion on reality TV? The trashier the better!
my kids live for america's next top model...or antm, as they like to call it!
i'm not into reality t.v...i used to be. the withdrawal was awful but, i found hgtv...no i live for house hunters, my house it worth what? and all those other hgtv shows...is that the same thing? hmmm...
I'm a sucker for Project Runway!
BTW. About reality... you've been tagged over at my place.
You and me are stuck in our secret worlds...oh well!!
My daughter is a reality addict and when I go see her she turns me into the same! Sorry I have not been blogging lately! I have been taping shows. What was I thinking?? Hah! Maybe it is a good thing I wasn't thinking! If you get a minute, check it out. I'd love to hear what you think. I am inviting all my blog friends over for feedback. http://www.dishingwithdebbie.com Your stories are great and my whole idea behind this show is for other moms to share real stories like you do. Sponsors are donating neat prizes like chocolate baskets and mini-chef aprons and way cool cookery stuff. Anyway, I'd love to hear from you.
I am with you girl. I love them too. I must admit that I don't watch them as much as I would like... but the addiction and the love is still there.
Maybe there is a 12 step program out there for us.
I love small group get-togethers! Good for you. We started one a while back but 14 kids running rampant put a damper on it pretty quick.
I love reality TV also! At least they seem to keep those shows around. I get hooked on "regular" shows and they end up getting cancelled!!!
Psst. You can watch every episode of Real World RIGHT ON YOUR OWN COMPUTER. Don't ask me how I know this.
