Help Me Spend Two Dollars

If you ask any server what the worst part of being a server is, the answer would be universal- bad tippers. No one can figure out 15% like a server.

Last night, I waited on a table of two young people. Their bill was around $76. Guess how much they left me. . . Are you ready for this? $2. That's right. Two freakin' dollars. And, trust me, I provided them with exemplary service.

So, I started asking around. What can you buy with two dollars, these days? Here is the list we (the other servers and I) came up with:

2/3 of a gallon of gas
1/2 latte from Starbucks (if they offered halves)
4 cans of Natural Light
2 Trojans from the machine in the gas station
1 donut with sprinkles from Krispy Kreme
1 20oz soda
1 pack of Hannah Montana playing cards (she has playing cards?!?!)
2 Double Cheeseburgers from McDonalds
4 stamps with a little change left over
1 king size candy bar

Can you add to this list? How should I spend my $2?

Since I'm headed to Memphis this weekend, I'm thinking of driving down to Tunica, MS.

After all, I could get 200 pulls on the penny slot machine.

Maybe a 1/2 gallon of milk?

I have never worked as a waitress, but I can imagine how frustrating it is to have a bad tipper.

I hate to say this, but my mom is the stingiest tipper ever. She probably would have left 2 bucks as well, no matter how great the service was. If my sister and I go out with her, she usually buys, we always end up throwing in money for the tip because she refuses to leave anything reasonable. It is so embarrassing.

for 2 dollars...you could go to the dollar store and buy 2 items of your choosing...but, you'll have to sport the tax!!
but...omg...how rude!! 2 bucks for a tip! you pay the pizza delivery guy more than that!!!
well...have fun on the penny slots...maybe you'll double your money!! ;)

I support your idea of 200 pulls on a penny slot machine. It will feel like you're getting a lot getting to pull that lever so many times even if you don't win. :)

I can't believe they left $2! Jim and I ALWAYS tip 20%! We've worked in a restaurant, and servers are so underappreciated.

I hope your next customer is a 20% tipper to help make up for the mini-tip you received last night.

Had fun seeing you today!

3 licks of a Baskin-Robbins ice cream cone. Go for the penny slots.

I am so sorry for terrible tippers. We try so hard to tip according to service. Esp. when we've got our youngest along. He alone warrants an extra $2 for the fussing and mess.

For $2 you could probably buy a pack of crayons for the kids.

Wow that is a crappy tip. I say you put those two greenbacks in a dark, warm place and hope they procreate.

You could watch 2/3 of a movie at a $3 movie joint.
