His Days Are Numbered

Dear Grendal,

Please know that we love you. This habit of yours that started 6 years ago must stop. I know, I know, it's as much our fault as it is yours, but it's time.

Time for you to stop sleeping in our bed. I think moving to the new house will be the perfect time to break you of this.

When you were a puppy, I thought you wouldn't weigh more than 8 or 9 pounds. That is the normal size, you know. And who could resist a cutie like you, especially when you whined like crazy every time we tried to put you in the kennel?

24 pounds and 6 years later, and you are pretty much taking over our bed. And driving us crazy- every. single. night.

I know that we outweigh you by a lot and we could move you over, but then we would have to listen to you grunt and huff and puff like an old man. It's not really worth it. Besides, you would go right back to stretching out as soon as we went back to sleep.

When we move, we've decided that you can have the guest bedroom. You will have your own pillow. It's where your toys will be kept. And you can come visit us any time, except when it's time to sleep.

We hope you like it.

Love,

Justin and Chelsea

P.S. This is all Daddy's decision. I still love you more than he does, you know that, right? Love, Mommy

We had to make the same decision. Our small dog of 10 years was unable to jump onto our new pillow-top mattress so we decided now was a good time for her to have her own pillow/bed. She was not happy and spent 3 days trying to get up on the bed before she gave up. (I must admit, I caved once and helped her up)

He's funny... at least you don't have to worry about him shedding!!

When we got our first dog, we were still sleeping on the floor in an apartment. He would cuddle up at our head on the floor and it was comforting.

But then we had two other dogs (eventually) and three on the bed was kind of crowded... thank goodness for California Kings!

When we bought a new comforter set that had a sheen top, we instantly bought them new pillows for the floor. Aahhh... to stretch out again.

Enjoy your newly found space!

So what are you going to do when you have company spend the night?

He is NOT gonna be happy. He is too spoiled. I'll visit when he is back in your bed, because I don't want to share his. Love ya sis!

Chelsea,

I mean this in the nicest most respectful way possible. That dog scares the poo out of me.

That's a breed you don't see every day!

We kennel our dogs every night, but it's for our own protection. If the whole pack slept with us we'd smother in our sleep.

OMGosh, that puppy pic is TOO cute.
That said, I sleep with anywhere from 2-5 dogs every day. I have no sympathy for you. lol

Oh-ho-ho! I can so relate to this post.

Only we're not moving.

Therefore the dog is probably going to stay, which means in the morning I'm going to have to listen to the husband whine and moan about how the dog was pushing him off the bed.

Hello! Move him!

Of course there is the "sighing" and "huffing and puffing like an old man."

Ooooh. I have one of those. He was about 8 lbs when we brought him home. He's around 31 now. But still thinks he's 8 lbs. And can sleep on our heads.
