I text. I like to convenience of it. Sometimes, I don't have time for an entire conversation and would rather ask a quick question and get a quick reply.
I know people that are a lot better at it than me. Although I will always be better than Justin at it. I know people that can text and drive and never look at their phone. That is, until they get the reply and then they have to read it.
A few days ago, I stopped for a school bus to load the kids. Elementary aged kids. I watched them get on and the bus driver pull away.
The bus driver had her phone out and was texting. Texting while the kids loaded and texting while she was driving.
It shocked me so much that I almost pulled out me phone and texted my friend about it. But I changed my mind.
When Maddie starts Kindergarten next year, I'll drive.

The bus driver I mean, not you driving your daughter!
While this is shocking and a bit terrifying, is it really any different than looking in your rearview to see what kid did what?
That is truly frightening.
I hope you report it. That's too dangerous.
I would so be calling the school. That's not a cool thing to be doing when you're trucking around a bus full of little ones.
This is what recently killed all the those people in a California commuter train crash. It has to be banned while driving, it is way too dangerous, especially for teens. In California we can no longer use a cell phone while driving unless you have a hand's free device. I'm sure that will eventually become national.
Geez..that is extremely wrong. I would have really reported that bus driver.. that is just way to frightening to hear..

It is appalling what some bus drivers do while driving our children. My kids took a school bus a couple of years ago and it went right through a red light without slowing down! I know because I was behind it. Another time it was speeding down a busy road and drove over a bump hard enough to send the kids in the backseat flying. I know because I was behind it and watched my daughter fly up and out of her seat. I reported every incident that occurred and you know what happened? Nothing. I ended up driving them to and from school for the rest of the year. I hope you report his person. Texting requires more concentration that just glancing in the rearview mirror to see what the kids are doing, as the one commenter noted. That horrific crash a while ago that killed that carful of teens ~ the driver's cellphone had sent a text message out seconds before the crash.

I would have definitely reported that, too.
My kids have hardly ever ridden the bus to or from school. When it's at all possible, I just prefer to drive them myself. And I'm more and more thankful for that every time I read crap like this!
Oh my God! I hope you reported it! I would have honked at her and shook my finger. Because I'm a smartass. :)
I'm so sorry I just now saw this, more than a week after it happened.
I work for MNPS. If you haven't already, call the customer service center and make a complaint to go to the driver's supervisor. Tell them where it happened, describe the driver and give the bus number if you got it.
That's a HUGE no-no.
