"Mommy, I ate something healthy today." Wow! It's about freakin' time.
"That's great! What did you have?" Please tell me something that I can make for all of us that doesn't include cheese and crackers.
"Cheese pizza." Ummmmm
"Well, honey, that's not really all that healthy." Captain Carlos agrees.
"Yes, it is." Seriously?
"Nope. Sorry. Try again."
"Mother, I'm not arguing with you about this." Okay, then.
It's official.
Cheese pizza is healthy. Eat up. Forget all the calories and fat grams. Forget what your doctor told you.
Maddie says that it's healthy and that's that.
Don't even try to argue.

Well, you can make a healthy version. Use whole wheat dough, make your own sauce with simmered pureed veggies (carrots, sweet potato, etc) stirred at a 50/50 ratio into the tomato sauce, and top with low-fat mozzarella. If you bake it in a really hot oven, it gets that nice crispy crust and actually is reasonably healthy. At least, that's what I tell myself when I serve it to the kids. :)
She's right you know. You've got your dairy, your protein, your bread, and your veggies all covered. Throw some pepperoni on it and it would be even better!
